Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers STANSTED MOUNTFITCHET, England — “The Barbara Holliday Collection of Modern British Art and Antique Furnishings” auction will offer a selection of paintings, prints, decorative art and furniture, jewelry, books, ceramics and drawings by leading artists. 

The auction will be held on January 15 and feature 571 works by artists including Eduardo Paolozzi, Cedric Morris, Sheila Fell, John Northcote Nash, Elisabeth Frink, Mary Fedden, Robin Philipson and William Roberts, among others. 

As per BASI, Carel Weight will have the most artworks in this sale with 18, followed by Olwyn Bowey’s 17 works. Eduardo Paolozzi’s “Count Basie,” a bronze sculpture, is expected to be one of the top-selling artworks of this auction, with an estimate of £15,000 to £20,000. Cedric Morris’ “The Red Pond,” an oil-on-canvas painting signed and dated ‘1-32,’ is also expected to sell for £15,000 to £20,000.

In reference to the sale of similar-sized artworks of the top artists in the last 10 years (across all auctions) — Cedric Morris’ “The Red Pond” is expected to be the top lot on offer, estimated to sell for between £15,000 and £20,000. Cedric Morris had a distinctive Post-Impressionist style and painted portraits, landscapes and very decorative still life’s of flowers and birds.
